Here I will tell you a little bit about me and how my passion for dogs started!

My love for dogs started from a very young age – as a family growing up my parents always had dogs in the family home, so I was born into a life of always being surrounded by dogs. One of the first things I learnt to do as a toddler was how to put the dogs leads on!

I was about 9 years old when my parents allowed me to have my very own dog. She was a rescue Greyhound called Mary. Every weekend I would go to the local pet shop & spend all my pocket money on pretty collars and treats for Mary – I absolutely adored her!

When I wasn’t busy with Mary, and school in my spare time I would help my sister at her Greyhound rescue, where I was very hands-on with lots of different dogs.

In 2017 I set up my very own sighthound rescue charity Sighthound Stopgap which is dedicated to rehoming and rehabilitating neglected and abused sighthounds that have been discarded after their working careers. It has been a gift to be able to nurse them back to health. Sighthound stopgap has rescued 100’s of sighthounds, saving them from neglect & euthanasia, helping them find their forever homes.

Fast forward to 2021 and I am currently, owned by 7 gorgeous rescue Sighthounds – YES, SEVEN!!

In my spare time, I enjoy training for Obedience, Flyball, Agility, Tracking, and most recently gun dog training which is training for control on the field. I have also enjoyed Greyhound showing in the past and have an amazing trophy cabinet.

And now I’m embarking on my new career in Dog-Grooming…

Part of being a good dog owner is providing the best quality care for them, and dog grooming is something I have always been really interested in. I gained my open college network diploma in dog grooming at Groomarts Academy in Hertfordshire which led me to Hairy Hounds Grooming Parlour being formed. I am also fully qualified in canine first aid and have studied for many years for canine nutrition and dog behaviour.

I’m really looking forward to spending time with your lovely Dogs when they come here for a special ‘Hairy Hounds’ spa treatment!

I like to make Dog Grooming an enjoyable experience for your dog, so they will not only be leaving my parlour looking & smelling beautiful, they will be coming home to you happy, content, and eager to come for their next visit.
